Welcome to my first-ever post here. As Janet has promised, I am finally going to start contributing to her blog on a recurring basis. Not only do we both feel that hearing from the two of us will present to Janet's fans a more balanced, realistic view of who we are and what we do but it has also been a longstanding request from many of you, albeit one I've firmly resisted until now. (Needless to say, those of you who aren't interested in hearing from me can, and should, simply move on to one of Janet's posts.)

As most of you know, Janet and I have been a couple for over 20 years now. That's a long time by any standard...in particular, much longer than the large majority of folks we personally know who consider our sexual lifestyle to be "wrong" have made it in their own (and, uh, "right") marriages and certainly long enough that even the most willfully ignorant of souls would be forced to admit we're in a serious, committed relationship...even if it's one which doesn't match their own personal view of what that entails.

As such, there is no Janet without Steve...and, likewise, there is no Steve without Janet. That goes for both the web site as well as our personal lives. Everything we do, we do as a team. So why not the blog?

This first post isn't intended to address any particular "topic". It's merely an introductory post to say hello to those who've not yet heard from me (believe it or not, after nearly 12 years online I get a lot of my own personal fan mail from fans of our sites and DVDs) and to let you know that I will soon be making future posts on a variety of subjects as they apply to the lifestyle Janet and I lead, our beliefs about it and anything else related to it and the web sites and video work we produce. Snowed and Iced In!

Hi guys & gals, we know we are behind on the weekly updates I promised for 2010 - we planned to post one on Friday the 8th, and it is now Sunday the 10th - but there is legitimate reason for the delay.

That being said, it is supposed to get a bit warmer tomorrow (Monday the 11th) and, if so, we'll be heading out to the office as soon as the ice melts and will work on the update at that time. 2009/2010: Looking back & looking ahead...

Wow...I can hardly believe another year has passed! So much has happened in the past 12 months that 2009 literally went by faster than almost any year in my life thus far.

First, a look backward at 2009. It's certainly no secret that 2009 is the year I "went pro"...well, sort of, anyway. Why do I say "at first"? Do I regret doing pro work at all? Well, yes and no. To that end, a look forward at 2010. Putting our actions where our words are, Steve and I actually moved back east (much to the chagrin of our kids, who loved California) in order to get away from the L.A. pro porn world and focus on what we do best and enjoy most...our own amateur sites, on a part-time basis only. We also intend to re-focus on our primary, non-adult business, which we not only find very fulfilling but which provides a healthy balance that we sorely missed in 2009.

Busy, busy, busy!

OK, I know...it's been 10 weeks since I've updated my blog. Sorry, guys and gals! But a lot has been going on with Steve and I that has kept us very, very busy and obviously my family, work and personal lives take priority over blogging.

So, what have I been up to over the past 10 weeks?

Amateur or Pro?

Am I amateur, or pro? This is a question I hear all the time and I think it's worth a blog entry since it seems to really matter to some people.

There are conflicting views about the definition of the terms "amateur" and "professional"and, like many terms, each has different meanings depending on the context in which it is used.

In terms of vocation - what one does for a living - a professional does what he or she does full-time and for his or her primary source of income. An amateur does not. It does not matter how much, if any, money that person makes doing the activity in question...if that person's primary source of income does not come from that activity, then that activity is not his or her profession or vocation, it is his or her avocation. Someone with a typical 9-to-5 job or who owns and operates a business of his or her own may also be an avid sculptor, writer, photographer or musician, for example. They may take their chosen activity very seriously, work hard at it and, if they are lucky, eventually make money from it...yet still do it part-time only. Any financial gain generated from their chosen activity is a by-product of how well they do what they do and how others respond to it...but it is not the point of what they do. If the income stopped, they'd still be doing it because they enjoy it.

Also, a profession indicates a "calling"...something that the person in question considers to be his or her primary identity in life. For example, a physician is a physician 24/7...he or she may not be at work every moment, but no physician (or artist or craftsman, etc.) would consider their work to be a mere "job".

In our case, then, Steve and I consider ourselves to be amateurs in the adult biz. I certainly don't consider myself to be a professional porn star, no matter how much popularity or success I have achieved, and I certainly don't consider what I do to be a "job" either, because I don't do it every day, it doesn't define who I am, I love every minute of it, and I don't "need" to do it at all. Likewise, Steve is a totally self-trained webmaster, photographer and videographer and enjoys keeping things at that level. It goes without saying that my personal web site, our own DVDs and, recently, the occasional pro video work I've been doing on a part-time basis all consume a lot of our time and require sustained effort yet still, after 11 years online, they do not occupy "full-time job" status in our lives. It all depends on our "real world" schedule and, most of all, our personal choice. We are always in full charge of our time.

Also, my own web site is still not only my first love but my first priority. Do I get paid well to do pro video work? Yes. Do I shoot pro work all the time? No. Could I do it for a full-time I wanted to? Yes, absolutely...but I choose not to. The fact is that no matter how often or little I am shooting pro work, Steve and I are still working on the site in some capacity every single day for a bit...answering email, prepping updates, shipping DVDs, providing customer service, etc.

I guess the best way to describe what we do is that we take a professional attitude toward being amateurs. Much to our surprise, we have built up a very large and loyal following over the past 11 years, so we can't (and don't) take the site lightly...we feel we owe our members a high level of personal commitment. But on the other hand, it's not our primary source of income...which insures that we still love what we do. Instead of being drudgery, as is the case with many if not most "jobs", it's still a passion. 11 Years Online...Wow!

Fun Times On The Air...
